Steve has
performed with a
handful of bands in the Chicagoland area over
the last 12 years but
ROTTER is the best thing
to date! Steve was the
studio musician for the
public access show,
"That Wacky Show", which
ran from 1991-1995 in
the NW burbs of Chicago
and is still airing as
re-runs somewhere out
there. One of the
last bands he played in
was "PUSH." Perhaps
some of you in Chicago
remember them. After
leaving the band in
1995, Steve
finished his album,
"Wraith" (available at
this site for purchase,
as well as itunes and
guitar9 records on the
web.)
Around 2001, Steve joined up
with his X-bassist,
Larry, from "PUSH", his brother Dave,
and long-time friend and
drummer, Blair. ROTTER
is formed. Steve
is inspired by artists such
as Dokken, Yngwie
Malmsteen, Dream
Theater, Randy Rhoads,
Metallica, Shotgun
Messiah, Blues Saraceno,
Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert,
Racer X, Ozzy, Fates
Warning, Queensryche,
Mozart, Bach, and
Paganini, Stratovarius
and Kamelot to name a
few. He enjoy classical
music, jazz, blues, and
of course progressive
hard rock and metal!
When not playing guitar,
Steve is always on the pc, very much
a computer geek.
He
loves technology and
anything digital.
When not on the computer
(rare) Steve is either
working in his pro tools
recording studio or
shooting photography or
video for clients (he's
an avid cinematographer
and audio engineer.)
Steve is usually busy running
his video production co.
(SAR studios), updating
this site, marketing the
music, and anything else
creative. There
are NOT enough hours in
the day! Most
recently, Steve has been
writing new material for
a solo project, both in
the hard rock arena and
classical context. ROTTER has been through
a couple lineup changes
and more recently, the
newest lineup for the
newest CD and show dates
is here. "I am
very excited to be working
with close friends of
mine, who are just
awesome musicians as
well!
I can't wait to hear
this demo when it's
done! It has been
so long since I played
with top caliber people
and I can't wait."
What started Steve playing
guitar back in 1988 was
watching the end of the
movie Crossroads with
Ralph Macchio and Steve
Vai. This was
amazing; that you
could do these cool
things on guitar.
Steve has been a Vai fan
ever since. The
rest is history,
discovering Yngwie
Malmsteen and all the
other greats.
"Playing 8 hours a day
every day, self-taught,
got me far, but, unfortunately, as time
goes on, life gets in
the way and you can't do
what you really want to
do. There is not
much time left for
guitar playing after
your job, bills,
etc....but I push on.
I have been busy the
last few years with
working, getting
married, buying a house,
working on the house,
selling the house, and
currently building our
first new home. We
are very excited about
this, especially since
this will be the new
home of the new
recording studio."
Steve is a HUGE animal
lover, member of the
HSUS (Humane Society of
the USA) and has 3 dogs,
all Cairn Terriers
("Wizard of Oz
dogs"....which is also
one of Steve's favorite
movies.)
"I am a laid back person,
not a partier at all.
I have many hobbies all
relating to the arts.
Whether it's cameras,
video production,
guitars or audio, I'm
there. There are
just not enough hours in
the day! Did I say
that already? WELL
THERE AREN'T!"
I started out with
Jackson guitars and
still love them, however
my favorite guitars
would have to be the
Ibanez Jem and RG
series.
"I cannot wait to start
recording with Jack,
Mike and Pete in the
studio, and hopefully
play some shows out
later on as well with
this material!"
Steve's Video /
Photography production
studio (

and

) has grown and
come a long way since
it's start in 2000 |
